Comparatives and Superlatives

Used to compare people, places, and things.

Comparative

Short adjectives: adj-er + than (taller than).
Long adjectives: more + adj + than (more beautiful than).
Irregular: good -> better, bad -> worse, far -> farther.

Superlative

Short: the adj-est (the tallest).
Long: the most + adj (the most beautiful).
Irregular: the best, the worst.

Exercises

1. Complete: “This book is ___ (interesting) than that.” “She is the ___ (intelligent).”

2. Write 5 comparative and 5 superlative sentences.
