Possessive Adjectives and Pronouns

Possessive adjectives and pronouns show ownership or belonging.

Possessive Adjectives

my, your, his, her, its, our, their. They come before a noun.
Ex: This is my book. Is that your pen? Her name is Sara. Their house is big.

Possessive Pronouns

mine, yours, his, hers, its, ours, theirs. They replace a noun + possessive adjective.
Ex: This book is mine. That pen is yours. The house is theirs. Whose phone is this? It s hers.

Difference

Possessive adjective + noun: This is my car.
Possessive pronoun (no noun): This car is mine.

Exercises

Complete with possessive adjective: This is … (I) house. … (she) bag is red. Complete with possessive pronoun: This book is … (I). These pencils are … (they).
