My Town or Village: Describing Places
Being able to describe your town or village is an important skill. In this lesson, we learn vocabulary and expressions for describing places.
1. Places in a Town
- School, hospital, post office, bank, market, supermarket
- Park, mosque, church, library, police station, restaurant
- Cafe, pharmacy, bakery, bookshop, bus station
2. Descriptive Adjectives
- Big, small, old, new, modern, quiet, noisy, clean, dirty
- Beautiful, ugly, busy, peaceful, crowded, empty
3. Prepositions of Place
- Next to, between, behind, in front of, opposite
- Near, far from, on the corner of, across from
4. Example Description
“I live in a small village. It is quiet and clean. There is a mosque next to the school. The market is near my house. There are many trees and flowers in the village. I like my village because it is beautiful and peaceful.”
Exercises
- Describe your town or village (5-6 sentences).
- Use prepositions: “The school is ___ the mosque.” “My house is ___ the park.”
