My Last Holiday: Using Past Simple

Talking about past holidays helps you practise the simple past tense.

Regular verbs in past simple:

visit → visited, play → played, travel → travelled, stay → stayed, like → liked

Irregular verbs:

go → went, eat → ate, see → saw, have → had, take → took, do → did, buy → bought

Time expressions:

yesterday, last week, last month, last summer, two days ago, in 2025

Example paragraph:

“Last summer, I went to the beach with my family. We stayed in a nice hotel. Every day, we swam in the sea and played volleyball. The food was delicious. I had a wonderful time.”
