Present Perfect: Formation, Usage and Exercises
The Present Perfect connects the past with the present. It is used for past actions with present relevance.
1. Formation
Subject + have/has + past participle. I have visited Algiers.
2. Uses
- Past action with present result: I have lost my keys.
- Life experience: She has traveled to France.
- Unfinished past: He has lived here for 5 years.
- With just, already, yet, ever, never, since, for.
3. Past Participles
Regular: add -ed (played, worked). Irregular: see, seen; go, gone; eat, eaten; write, written.
4. Exercises
- She (visit) Paris twice → She _____ Paris twice.
- I never (eat) couscous → I _____ never _____ couscous.
- _____ you ever (see) the Sahara?
