Connectors: And, But, Or, So, Because
Connectors (linking words) join words, phrases, or sentences together.

| or | alternative/choice | Coffee or tea? |
| so | result/consequence | It was late, so I went to bed. |
| because | reason/cause | I stayed home because I was sick. |
Examples in sentences
- And: “She bought a dress and a pair of shoes.”
- But: “He studied hard but he didn’t pass.”
- Or: “Would you like tea or coffee?”
- So: “The weather was nice, so we went to the beach.”
- Because: “I am tired because I worked all day.”
Position
- And, but, or connect words or equal parts: “I like cats and dogs.”
- So, because connect two complete sentences: “It was raining, so I took an umbrella.”
Exercises
