Present Perfect Tense
The Present Perfect connects the past with the present. It is used for actions that started in the past and continue to the present, or actions that happened at an unspecified time in the past.
Formation
Subject + have/has + past participle. I have visited Paris. She has finished her homework. Questions: Have you seen this film? Negatives: I haven’t eaten yet.
Using for, since, already, yet, never, ever
For + duration: I have lived here for 5 years. Since + starting point: I have lived here since 2019. Already: in affirmative sentences, means ‘before now’. I have already eaten. Yet: in questions and negatives. Have you finished yet? I haven’t finished yet. Never = at no time. I have never been to London. Ever = at any time. Have you ever seen a whale?
