Short Responses: Either, Neither, So
In English, we use short responses with so, too, either, and neither to show agreement or similarity. These structures help make conversations more natural and avoid repetition.
Agreeing with Positive Statements
So + auxiliary + subject: “I love chocolate.” → “So do I.“
Subject + auxiliary + too: “I love chocolate.” → “I do too.“
Agreeing with Negative Statements
Neither + auxiliary + subject: “I don’t like spiders.” → “Neither do I.“
Subject + auxiliary + either: “I don’t like spiders.” → “I don’t either.“
