Present Continuous

The Present Continuous describes actions happening now or around now, as well as fixed future arrangements.

Uses

Actions in progress now: I am reading a book right now. Temporary situations: She is staying with her aunt this week. Future arrangements: We are meeting tomorrow at 5. Trends/changes: The climate is getting warmer.

Form

Affirmative: Subject + am/is/are + verb-ing. (I am working, He is sleeping). Negative: Subject + am/is/are + not + verb-ing. (She is not eating). Questions: Am/Is/Are + subject + verb-ing? (Are you coming?).

Exercises

1. Fill: (She … (study) now – They … (not/play) football – … you … (come) to the party?).
2. Correct: (He is working every day – She studies at the moment).
3. Write 5 sentences about what is happening right now.
