The Future Continuous: Formation and Usage
The future continuous describes actions that will be in progress at a specific time in the future. It emphasizes the duration of an action.
Formation
Subject + will be + verb-ing. Example: I will be studying at 8 PM. They will be traveling tomorrow morning.
Uses
- Action in progress at a specific future time: This time next week, I will be lying on the beach.
- Polite questions about plans: Will you be using the car later?
- Predictions about the present: Don’t call him now, he will be sleeping.
Examples
- At 10 AM tomorrow, I will be taking an exam.
- They will be arriving at 6 PM.
