Comparatives and Superlatives: Irregular Forms
While most adjectives follow regular rules for comparatives and superlatives, some common adjectives have irregular forms that must be memorized.
Irregular Adjectives
- Good → better (comparative) → the best (superlative): This book is better than that one. She is the best student.
- Bad → worse → the worst: The weather is worse today. This is the worst film.
- Far → farther/further → the farthest/furthest: I live farther from school.
- Little → less → the least: I have less money than you.
- Many/Much → more → the most: She has more books than me.
Examples
- Her performance was better than mine.
- This is the worst day of my life.
- He has the least experience in the team.
