Reflexive Pronouns: Myself, Yourself, Himself with Exercises
Reflexive pronouns refer back to the subject of the sentence. List: myself (I), yourself (you singular), himself (he), herself (she), itself (it), ourselves (we), yourselves (you plural), themselves (they). Uses of reflexive pronouns: when the subject and object are the same person (I cut myself, She taught herself English), for emphasis (The president himself opened the ceremony, I myself saw the accident), in fixed expressions (Help yourself, Make yourself at home, Enjoy yourselves, Behave yourself). Common verbs used with reflexive pronouns: cut, hurt, burn, enjoy, teach, introduce, blame, defend, express oneself (He expressed himself clearly). Difference between each other and reflexive pronouns: each other is used when two people do something to each other (They love each other), while reflexive pronouns are used when one person does something to himself (He loves himself). Examples: He hurt himself while playing football. We enjoyed ourselves at the party. The door opens itself. You should believe in yourselves. She looked at herself in the mirror.
