Present Continuous for Future Arrangements

We use the present continuous to talk about fixed future plans and arrangements.

Form

Subject + am/is/are + V-ing + future time expression

Examples

“I am meeting my friends tomorrow.”

“She is flying to London next week.”

“We are having dinner at 8pm tonight.”

“They are moving to a new house next month.”

Time expressions

tonight, tomorrow, next week, next month, next year, this weekend, on Monday

Difference with ‘will’

Present continuous = definite arrangement (I am meeting her at 6).

Will = decision now or prediction (I will help you).
