Quantifiers and Determiners
Quantifiers and determiners specify the quantity or amount of something. They are used before nouns to give information about how many or how much.
Quantifiers for Countable Nouns
All: all students (100%). Most: most students (more than 50%). Some: some students (a number, not all). Any: any student (no matter which). No: no student (0%). Both: both students (two out of two). Either: either student (one of two). Neither: neither student (not one nor the other).
Quantifiers for Uncountable Nouns
All: all water. Most: most water. Some: some water. Any: any water. No: no water. Much: much water. A little: a little water.
Examples
All students must take the exam. Most people like music. Some children enjoy reading. I don’t have any money. Neither answer is correct. Both parents attended the meeting.
Exercises
Fill in: 1- … students passed the exam (100%). 2- … of the two options is good (not a single one). 3- … children like chocolate (a large number, but not all).
