Grammar: The Passive Voice (Present and Past)
Structure: Object + be + past participle + (by + subject).
Present Simple Passive: am/is/are + pp. Active: The chef cooks the food. Passive: The food is cooked by the chef.
Past Simple Passive: was/were + pp. Active: Shakespeare wrote Hamlet. Passive: Hamlet was written by Shakespeare.
When to use: doer unknown (My bike was stolen), doer obvious (The criminal was arrested), emphasize action.
Exercise: Change: Children play football -> __. They built this house in 1990 -> __.
