Reported Speech (Statements)
1. What is Reported Speech?
Reported speech reports what someone said without exact words. Tense changes when reporting verb is past: “I like coffee” → He said he liked coffee.
2. Tense Changes
- Present Simple → Past Simple: “I like” → He liked.
- Present Continuous → Past Continuous: “I am studying” → She was studying.
- Past Simple → Past Perfect: “I saw him” → She had seen him.
- Will → Would: “I will come” → He would come.
- Can → Could: “I can help” → She could help.
3. Time/Place Changes
now→then, today→that day, yesterday→the day before, tomorrow→the next day, here→there.

- Report: “I work in a bank.” → He said ______.
- “I will call you tomorrow.” → She said ______.
