Describing a Person
When describing a person, we talk about their physical appearance and their personality. Use the verb ‘to be’ for general descriptions and ‘to have got’ for specific features.
Physical Appearance
Height: tall, short, medium height. Build: slim, thin, fat, well-built. Hair: long, short, curly, straight, blonde, brown, black, grey, bald. Eyes: blue, green, brown, black. Face: round, oval, square. Other features: beard, moustache, glasses, freckles.
Personality Adjectives
Positive: friendly, kind, generous, funny, intelligent, hardworking, patient, honest, brave, polite. Negative: lazy, selfish, rude, dishonest, impatient, mean, shy, serious.
Example Description
My mother is a tall woman with long black hair and brown eyes. She is very kind and patient. She always helps me with my homework. She has a beautiful smile.

Describe your best friend. Write 6-8 sentences about their appearance and personality.
