Writing a Short Story
Writing a short story in English helps develop creativity and writing skills.
Elements of a story:
- Characters: Who is in the story?
- Setting: Where and when does it happen?
- Plot: What happens (beginning, middle, end)?
- Conflict: What problem do they face?
- Resolution: How does it end?
Time expressions for stories:
Once upon a time… / One day… / After that… / Finally… / In the end…
Example opening:
“Once upon a time, in a small village near Algiers, there lived a young boy named Ali. He loved exploring the mountains near his home…”
Exercise:
Write a short story of 10-15 lines. Start with: “It was a sunny morning when…”
