Phrasal Verbs: Common Separable and Inseparable
Phrasal verbs are verb + preposition combinations that have special meanings. They are very common in English and important for the BAC exam.
Separable Phrasal Verbs
- Turn on/off: “Turn on the light” or “Turn the light on.”
- Put on/take off: “Put on your coat” or “Put your coat on.”
- Pick up/drop off: “Pick me up at 5.”
Inseparable Phrasal Verbs
- Look after: “She looks after her grandmother.”
- Get along with: “I get along with my colleagues.”
- Run out of: “We ran out of milk.”
- Come across: “I came across an old photo.”
