Telling Time: What time is it?

Knowing how to tell the time is essential for daily communication in English.

1. Full hours

It’s two o’clock. It’s five o’clock.

2. Half past, quarter past, quarter to

half past three = 3:30, quarter past four = 4:15, quarter to six = 5:45.

3. Digital time

seven fifteen = 7:15, ten thirty = 10:30, eight forty-five = 8:45.

4. Useful questions

What time is it? What’s the time? Could you tell me the time, please?

Exercises
