The structure “there is/there are” is used to describe the existence of something. It is one of the most common structures in English and is essential for describing places and situations in the BAC exam.

Basic Usage:

• There is + singular/uncountable noun: “There is a book on the table.” / “There is some milk in the fridge.”
• There are + plural noun: “There are many students in the classroom.” / “There are two cats in the garden.”

Negative Form:

• There isn’t (is not): “There isn’t any water left.”
