Wh-questions are questions that begin with words like “What”, “Where”, “When”, “Who”, “Why” and “How”. They are used to ask for specific information. In this lesson, we will learn how to form and use Wh-questions in English.

I. Wh-Question Words

III. Common Errors to Avoid
- Incorrect: Where you live? Correct: Where do you live?
- Incorrect: What your name? Correct: What is your name?
- Incorrect: Why you are late? Correct: Why are you late?
Remember: Wh-questions always need an auxiliary verb (do, does, is, am, are) or a modal verb (can, must…).

“How” can combine with other words to form different questions:
