Future Tenses: Will, Going to, Present Continuous

English has several ways to express the future. Each has a specific use.

Will + infinitive

• Predictions: “It will rain tomorrow.”
• Instant decisions: “I’ll answer the phone.”
• Promises: “I will help you.”

Going to + infinitive

• Plans and intentions: “I am going to study medicine.”
• Predictions based on evidence: “Look at the clouds! It is going to rain.”

Present Continuous for Future

• Fixed arrangements: “I am meeting my friend tomorrow.”
