Expressing Cause and Result: So, Such, Too, Enough

These structures show the relationship between cause and result. Essential for BAC writing.

So + adjective/adverb + that:

“The film was SO boring THAT I fell asleep.” / “The music was SO loud THAT we couldn’t hear.”

Such + (a/an) + (adjective) + noun + that:

“It was SUCH A boring film THAT I fell asleep.” / “She is SUCH A kind person THAT everyone likes her.”

Too + adjective/adverb + to-infinitive:

“He is TOO young TO drive.” / “The coffee is TOO hot TO drink.”

Adjective/adverb + enough + to-infinitive:

“She is old ENOUGH TO vote.” / “The exam was easy ENOUGH TO pass.”

BAC Exercise:

Join using so/such/too/enough: 1. The book was interesting. I read it twice. 2. The bag is heavy. I can’t carry it.
