Order of Adjectives Before Nouns
When we use multiple adjectives before a noun, English follows a specific order. The general order is: Opinion → Size → Age → Shape → Color → Origin → Material → Purpose + Noun.
Remember: OSAShCOMP (Opinion, Size, Age, Shape, Color, Origin, Material, Purpose).
Examples: “A beautiful (opinion) big (size) old (age) red (color) car.” “A lovely (opinion) small (size) round (shape) wooden (material) table.”
Examples
- “She bought a nice new French dress.”
- “They live in a large old stone house.”
- “He has a beautiful big black dog.”
- “I need a small round wooden box.”
