Making Suggestions

Common expressions

• Let’s + base verb: Let’s go to the park.
• Shall we + base verb: Shall we watch a movie?
• How about + verb-ing: How about playing football?
• Why don’t + subject + verb: Why don’t we visit grandma?
• What about + noun/verb-ing: What about a cup of tea?

Responding

Accepting: Yes, let’s. That’s a good idea. Sounds great. Why not?

Refusing: I’m sorry, I can’t. Not today, maybe later. I don’t feel like it.
