Prepositions of Movement: To, Into, Onto, Through

Common prepositions of movement

• To: “She went to the park.” (destination)
• Into: “He jumped into the pool.” (entering)
• Onto: “The cat jumped onto the table.” (moving to a surface)
• Through: “The train went through the tunnel.” (passing from one side to another)
• Across: “They walked across the bridge.”
• Up/Down: “She ran up the stairs.”
• Over: “The bird flew over the house.”
