Subject and Object Questions
Subject Questions
When we ask about the subject, we do NOT use an auxiliary (do/does/did).
Who + verb…?
Ex: Who wrote this book? (Ahmed wrote it.)
Ex: What happened yesterday?
Object Questions
When we ask about the object, we use an auxiliary (do/does/did).
Who/What + do/does/did + subject + verb?
Ex: What did you eat? (I ate pizza.)
Ex: Who did you see? (I saw Ali.)
Exercises
1. ___ wrote this poem? (Subject question)
2. ___ did you meet? (Object question)
3. Make subject question: Sami broke the window. → ___
4. Make object question: I bought a book. → ___
