Comparative Structures with As…As
We use as + adjective + as to say that two things are EQUAL in some way. We use not as + adjective + as to say they are NOT equal.
Positive: “Ahmed is as tall as Ali.” (They are the same height.)
Negative: “This book is not as interesting as that one.” (That book is more interesting.)
With quantity: “I have as many books as you.” “She earns as much money as her brother.”
With adverbs: “He runs as fast as his friend.” “She doesn’t sing as well as her sister.”
Examples
- “My car is as old as yours.”
- “This exercise is not as difficult as the previous one.”
- “He has as many friends as his brother.”
- “She works as hard as her colleague.”
