Expressing Quantity: Some, Any, Much, Many, A Lot Of
This lesson teaches quantifiers in English. For 1st year literary stream students.
Some and Any
Some: Used in affirmative sentences and offers: “I have some money.” “Would you like some tea?”
Any: Used in negative sentences and questions: “I don t have any money.” “Do you have any questions?”
Much and Many
Much: With uncountable nouns: “How much water?” “I don t have much time.”
Many: With countable nouns: “How many books?” “There are many students.”
A Lot Of / Lots Of
Used with both countable and uncountable: “I have a lot of friends.” “She drinks a lot of water.”
