Persuasive Writing

Persuasive writing aims to convince the reader to agree with your opinion or take action.

Structure of persuasive writing

1. Introduction: State your opinion clearly.
2. Arguments: 2-3 reasons with supporting evidence.
3. Conclusion: Restate your opinion and call to action.

Persuasive techniques

• Facts and statistics: 80% of students agree that…
• Emotional language: Imagine a world where…
• Rhetorical questions: Don’t we all want a better future?
• Expert opinions: According to doctors…
• Repetition: We need change. We need action. We need justice.

Example

School uniforms should be mandatory. First, they create equality among students. Second, they reduce distractions. Finally, they save money for parents. Join us in supporting school uniforms!
