1. Will + Base Verb
Uses:
- Predictions about the future: It will rain tomorrow. / I think Algeria will win the match.
- Spontaneous decisions: “I’m thirsty.” “I’ll get you a glass of water.”
- Promises and offers: I’ll help you with your homework. / I’ll call you later.
- Facts about the future: The sun will rise at 6 a.m. tomorrow.
Structure: Subject + will + base verb (no -s for he/she/it)
Negative: Subject + will not (won’t) + base verb
Question: Will + subject + base verb?
2. Going To + Base Verb
Uses:
- Future plans and intentions: I am going to study engineering at university.
- Predictions based on present evidence: Look at those clouds! It is going to rain.
Structure: Subject + am/is/are + going to + base verb
Negative: Subject + am/is/are + not + going to + base verb
Question: Am/Is/Are + subject + going to + base verb?
3. Present Continuous for Future
Use: For arranged plans and appointments (usually with a specific time or date).
- I am meeting my friend tomorrow at 5 p.m.
- They are travelling to London next week.
- We are having an exam on Monday.
Structure: Subject + am/is/are + verb-ing (+ future time expression)
4. Future Continuous
Use: For an action that will be in progress at a specific time in the future.
- This time next week, I will be lying on the beach.
- At 8 p.m., they will be watching the match.
Structure: Subject + will be + verb-ing
5. Future Perfect
Use: For an action that will be completed before a specific time in the future.
- By 2027, I will have graduated from university.
- By the time you arrive, I will have finished cooking.
Structure: Subject + will have + past participle

Summary
English has several ways to express the future. ‘Will’ is for predictions and spontaneous decisions, ‘going to’ is for plans and evidence-based predictions, present continuous is for fixed arrangements, future continuous is for actions in progress at a future time, and future perfect is for actions completed by a future time.
