There is and There are
There is and There are are used to say that something exists or doesn’t exist. They introduce new information.
There is + singular/uncountable
There is a book on the table.
There is some water in the bottle.
There is a supermarket near my house.
There are + plural
There are three students in the classroom.
There are many cars on the street.
There are two cats in the garden.
Negative form
There is not (isn’t) any milk in the fridge.
There are not (aren’t) any chairs in the room.
Question form
Is there a bank near here?
Are there any restaurants in this street?
