Patience in the Quran Types and Virtues

Patience sabr is a central virtue in Islam mentioned extensively in the Quran.

Definition

Patience is restraining oneself from complaining and maintaining composure in adversity. It is half of faith the other half being gratitude.

Types of Patience

Patience in obedience: persevering in worship. Patience in avoiding sin: resisting temptation. Patience in adversity: accepting trials.

Quranic Verses

Indeed Allah is with the patient. And We will surely test you until We know those who strive among you and the patient. Only the patient will receive their reward without account.
