Countable and Uncountable Nouns: Quantifiers

Countable nouns:

Can be counted (a book, two books). Use many, a few, few, a number of.

Uncountable nouns:

Cannot be counted (water, information, advice). Use much, a little, little, a great deal of.

Both:

some, any, no, a lot of, lots of, plenty of.

Examples:

• “How many books do you have?” (countable)
• “How much water do you drink?” (uncountable)
• “There are a few students in the class.” (countable – some)
• “There is little time left.” (uncountable – not much)

Exercice BAC 2021:

Choose: “I need (some/any) information about the course.” → some. “Do you have (many/much) homework?” → much.
