When describing people, we talk about their physical appearance and their personality.
Physical Appearance
Height and Build
- Height: tall, short, medium height, of average height
- Build: slim, thin, well-built, muscular, fat, overweight, slender
Hair
- Length: long hair, short hair, shoulder-length hair
- Style: straight hair, curly hair, wavy hair, bald
- Color: blond(e), brown, black, red, grey, white
Face and Eyes
- Face shape: round, oval, square, long
- Eyes: big, small, blue, green, brown, black
- Other features: glasses, beard, moustache, freckles, wrinkles
Age
- young, middle-aged, elderly, old, in his/her twenties/thirties
Personality (Character Traits)
Positive qualities
- kind, friendly, generous, honest, hardworking, funny, intelligent, polite, brave, helpful, patient, cheerful
Negative qualities
- lazy, selfish, rude, dishonest, mean, impatient, shy, aggressive
Example Description
My friend Ahmed is a tall and slim boy. He has short black hair and brown eyes. He is very kind and helpful. He is also hardworking and intelligent. I like him because he is honest and funny. He always makes me laugh.
Questions to Ask
- What does he/she look like? → He/She is tall and slim.
- What is he/she like? → He/She is kind and friendly.
- How old is he/she? → He/She is 14 years old.
