Defining Relative Clauses
Essential to meaning. No commas.
Ex: “The book which is on the table is mine.” (which book? the one on the table)
Non-defining Relative Clauses
Extra information. With commas.
Ex: “My brother, who lives in Paris, is a doctor.”
Relative Pronouns
who (people), which (things), that (people/things), whose (possession), where (place), when (time).
