Future Simple: Will vs Going To

WILL

Used for spontaneous decisions, promises, predictions without evidence.

• I will help you. (promise)
• I think it will rain. (prediction)
• Wait, I will open the door. (spontaneous)

GOING TO

Used for plans, intentions, predictions with evidence.

• I am going to visit Paris next year. (plan)
• Look at the clouds! It is going to rain. (evidence)

Structure

Will + base verb: Subject + will + verb.
Going to: Subject + am/is/are + going to + verb.

Exercises
