Means of Transportation

This lesson teaches you vocabulary about different means of transportation and how to talk about travel in English.

1. Types of Transportation

• Land: car, bus, train, taxi, bicycle, motorbike, truck
• Water: boat, ship, ferry, yacht
• Air: airplane, helicopter, hot air balloon

2. Verbs and Phrases

• go by car / bus / train / plane / boat
• ride a bicycle / a motorbike
• drive a car / a truck
• take the bus / the train / a taxi
• catch a plane

3. Dialogue

A: “How do you go to school?”
B: “I go by bus. What about you?”
A: “I walk to school because I live near the school.”

Exercises

1. How do you go to school? Write your answer.
2. Match: (car – train – plane – boat) with (airport – bus station – port – garage)
3. Complete: “I ___ (ride/take/drive) the bus every morning.”
4. Ask your friends: “How do you go to…?”
