Personal Pronouns: Subject and Object
Personal pronouns replace nouns to avoid repetition. They change form depending on their function in the sentence.
Subject Pronouns
Used as the subject of a verb:
- I – You – He – She – It – We – They
- Example: “She is a teacher.” / “They live in Algeria.”
Object Pronouns
Used as the object of a verb or preposition:
- Me – You – Him – Her – It – Us – Them
- Example: “The teacher helped me.” / “I saw him yesterday.”

Exercises
- Replace the nouns with subject pronouns: “John is tall – Mary and I are friends – The cat is cute”.
- Replace with object pronouns: “I see John – She helps Mary and me – He buys the book”.
- Complete: “___ (John) is my friend. I like ___ (John). ___ (Mary and I) go to school together.”
