In this lesson for 2nd Year Middle School students in Algeria, we study English — Grammar: Past Simple Tense (regular and irregular verbs) — 2nd Year Middle School — Algerian Curriculum according to the Algerian curriculum.
The past simple expresses completed actions in the past. Regular verbs: add -ed (played, watched). Irregular verbs: change form (go-went, eat-ate). Negative: subject + did not + base verb. Questions: Did + subject + base verb? Time expressions: yesterday, last week, in 2020, ago.
Examples
Example 1: I visited my grandmother yesterday.
Example 2: She went to the market last Friday.
Example 3: They did not come to the party.

Exercise 1: Write the past tense: play→, go→, eat→, study→, see→.
