Conjunctions: and, but, or, because, so

Conjunctions connect words, phrases or sentences.

And (addition)

“I like apples and oranges.” / “She sings and dances.”

But (contrast)

“I like coffee but I don’t like tea.” / “He’s rich but he’s not happy.”

Or (choice)

“Do you want tea or coffee?” / “You can come with us or stay here.”

Because (reason)

“I’m tired because I worked hard.” / “She’s happy because she passed the exam.”

So (result)

“It was raining so we stayed home.” / “I was hungry so I made a sandwich.”
