Grammar: Countable and Uncountable Nouns

In English, nouns can be countable or uncountable. Understanding the difference is important for using articles, quantifiers, and verbs correctly.

1. Countable Nouns

Countable nouns have both singular and plural forms. You can use numbers with them.

Examples:

• One book — two books
• An apple — three apples
• A student — many students

2. Uncountable Nouns

Uncountable nouns have only one form and cannot be counted with numbers.

Examples:

• Water (not two waters)
• Information (not informations)
• Advice, money, furniture, homework

3. Quantifiers

With Countable Nouns	With Uncountable Nouns

a lot of friends	a lot of money
