Speaking: Expressing Opinions and Participating in Debates

Expressing opinions and participating in debates are essential skills for academic success and civic engagement. This lesson provides useful phrases and strategies for effective speaking.

I. Expressing Personal Opinions

Strong opinions:

• “I firmly believe that…”
• “I am convinced that…”
• “There is no doubt that…”
• “I strongly agree/disagree with…”

Neutral opinions:

Hesitant opinions:
