Adverbs of Frequency and Manner
A lesson on using adverbs of frequency and manner correctly.
Adverbs of Frequency
Tell how often an action occurs: always (100%), usually, often, sometimes, rarely, never (0%). Position: before the main verb (I always wake up early) but after be (He is always late).
Adverbs of Manner
Describe how an action is performed: quickly, slowly, carefully, badly, well, fast, hard. Usually formed by adding -ly to adjectives (quick -> quickly). Position: after the verb or object (She sings beautifully. He drives carefully).
Exercises
- Put the adverb in the correct position: She (always) arrives on time.
- Form adverbs from: happy, angry, careful, good, fast.
