The Present Perfect vs Simple Past
Present Perfect: have/has + past participle. Uses: actions that started in the past and continue, life experiences, recent actions with present relevance, with ever/never/just/already/yet. Ex: I have never been to London. She has just finished her homework. Signal words: ever, never, already, yet, just, since, for, so far. Simple Past: for completed actions at a specific past time. Ex: I went to London in 2022. Comparison: Present Perfect focuses on the result, Simple Past on when it happened. Ex: I have lost my keys (I don t have them now). I lost my keys yesterday (specific time). Since vs For: since + specific time (since Monday), for + duration (for three days).
