Past Habits: Used to and Would
In English, we use “used to” and “would” to talk about past habits and repeated actions that no longer happen.
Used to
Form: used to + V1. Use: past habits and states. Example: I used to play football every day. (but I dont now). Negative: didnt use to. Question: Did you use to…?
Would
Form: would + V1. Use: past repeated actions (NOT states). Example: Every summer, we would go to the beach.
Difference
“Used to” can describe past states (I used to have a car). “Would” can only describe repeated actions (not states).
