1. Introduction
Everyone has a job or a future career. In this lesson, you will learn the names of different jobs and how to talk about what you want to be when you grow up.
2. Common Jobs
- Medical: doctor, nurse, dentist, pharmacist, surgeon
- Education: teacher, professor, headmaster
- Engineering: engineer, architect, technician, electrician, plumber
- Services: shop assistant, waiter, chef, barber, tailor, driver
- Other: farmer, fisherman, journalist, lawyer, police officer, soldier, artist, pilot
3. Talking About Jobs
- What does your father do? – He is a teacher.
- What do you want to be? – I want to be a doctor.
- She works in a hospital.
- He drives a taxi.
4. Places of Work
- A doctor works in a hospital.
- A teacher works in a school.
- A chef works in a restaurant.
- A farmer works on a farm.
- A pilot works at an airport.
5. Example Paragraph
When I grow up, I want to be a teacher. I love helping others learn new things. My mother is a teacher too. She teaches Arabic at a middle school. My father is an engineer. He builds roads and bridges. Both my parents work very hard. I want to be like them.
