Expressing opinions and making suggestions are essential communication skills in English. This lesson covers key phrases and structures for sharing your views and proposing ideas.
Giving Opinions
Useful phrases: In my opinion…, From my point of view…, As far as I am concerned…, It seems to me that…, I believe/think/feel that…, Personally, I…, I am convinced that…, I strongly believe that…, To be honest…, Frankly speaking… Example: “In my opinion, education is the key to success.”
Making Suggestions
Useful phrases: Why dont we…? How about…? What about…? Lets…, I suggest/recommend that…, We could…, Perhaps we should…, It might be a good idea to…, One possibility is to… Example: “Why dont we organize a school trip?” “How about visiting the museum?” “I suggest that we start a reading club.”
Agreeing and Disagreeing
Agreeing: I agree with you. Thats a good point. Absolutely. I think so too. You are right. Disagreeing politely: I see your point but… I agree up to a point but… I am not sure about that. I respectfully disagree. Thats one way to look at it but… Partial agreement: I agree with you to some extent but…
