The Exception Style Tools and Rules
Exception is removing something from what comes after the exception tool. It is one of the most important grammatical structures.
Exception Tools
Illa is the main tool. Ghayru siwa khala ada hasha are also used.
Types of Exception
Complete affirmative: both the excluded and the excluded from are mentioned. Complete negative: the sentence before illa is negative. Incomplete: the excluded from is omitted.
Grammatical Rules
In complete affirmative the excluded is always accusative. In complete negative it can be accusative or follows the exception tool. In incomplete the word after illa depends on the verb.
Exercises
Analyze: 1) The students came except Zayd. 2) No one came except Zayd. 3) Nothing happened except good.
